My last post was an email sent to me by my producer, John Vogt: This is an extention of the last post.

I was blown awy by the discovery about Daffy.. . . that later on when we were cleaning up the studio and getting ready for bed, I decided to attempt a serious talk with Sniffy-Poo (you can imagine what that was like). Sniffy-Poo was here because he was one of the animals featured in Daffy's story. I asked Sniffy if he could pretend. . . like Daffy he had major problems with the concept.  We talked about it for over an hour. He finally started to get the idea . . . but it was very difficult for him.  We did a little role playing and I said . . . Sniffy, I want you to pretend that you are a bird.  He tried as hard as he could to pretend but he could't quite get there. Finally, he belted out TWEET  TWEET and then collapsed on the couch in studio 2. He was mentally exhausted.

Nat, do you understand what this means? We've got a lot of work to do.
Without the freedom of imagination we are all locked in the prison of reality.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF SUMU STORIES, JOHN VOGT OF JOHN VOGT PRODUCTIONS WRITES;

Last night I worked on Daffy.  It was difficult recording his snoring because he is sooo big and it was hard fitting him into the studio.  We had to keep the one door of the studio open and stretch his tail all the way into the kitchen area. He also said that he wasn't tired and and would not be able to sleep in the studio. He wanted to go to his meadow and stretch out in the flowers.
We told him that he did not have to go to sleep for real, but just pretend and we would record his snoring. I know this will be hard for you to believe, but Daffy does not understand what it means to pretend. We explained it over and over, but he really never got it.
Daffy, it seems, can only understand the reality of imagination but can not seem to grasp the concept  of pretending.
Very interesting discovery, don't you think?
We finally got him to relax. Sara gave him some hot co co and rubbed his belly and surprise - - he drifted off to sleep.  We got some great takes of his snoring.
